Steve Jobs RIP - Founder of Apple - Quotes

So it seems Steve Jobs has passed away.  Like him or hate him, he was a brilliant business man and a visionary like no other.  He didn't rely on market research but rather his gut on what the customer wanted.  However, he was extremely harsh on his employees and is known for going off on them.  Maybe not the best management style to learn from.  But he has plenty of other things we can all learn from.  Like being forward thinking and anticipating the future.  Yes, not every product was a raving success, but there were plenty of home runs in his time.  He took a failing Apple company and took it to one of the largest companies in the world, and oh by the way in the process changed the landscape of America and the world with his technology.  No matter the success or money you can't take it with you in the end.  As tribute to Steve Jobs, I have included several quotes for your reading pleasure as well as a link to his graduation speech to Stanford University. http://www.ted.com/talks/steve_jobs_how_to_live_before_you_die.html

University of South Carolina National Champions x2!!!

Congratulations to the University of South Carolina Gamecocks on winning the National Championship in baseball for the second year in a row!!  They truly work as a team and everyone contributes!!!  They just kept finding a way to win!  They have a winning spirit.  They just kept hanging on and gave themselves the opportunity to win.  Congratulations it is quite the feat!!

Showtime series "Homeland" - Event photographer

So occasionally I (Jay Evans) work on a feature film or tv show as a background actor.  I usually get to do 1-2 a year depending on what comes through the area and what is going on. It is fun to see behind the scenes and the effort and detail that goes into the things we watch on a regular basis.  One doesn't make a lot of money doing background work and the hours are brutally long, nor do you get a lot of respect on the set from anyone.  However, you get an amazing story you can tell your friends at parties and occasionally you actually get to see yourself on the big screen. 

Anyway, earlier this year I had to opportunity to be cast as a photographer (rather fitting) on a pilot for a series that Showtime was putting together called "Homeland".  The series will star Clarie Danes and Damian Lewis (Capt Winters - Band of Brothers).  It was soooo cold on the set the days we worked.  We just about froze out there.  I was so cold that my camera was shaking from me shivering during the takes.  Anyway, they are slowly releasing teasers and trailers from Showtime to build up anticipation for the show.  Personally, I think the show is going to be a success, and not just because I am in it.  Anyway, they just released a new teaser http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSTN7ClsewQ the other day and at 41 sec in I noticed someone who looked familiar.  Here are some stills from that time frame.  That is me and my Nikon camera taking photographs during a scene on the set.  I wish I could share the resultant photograph that corresponds to this moment but it was requested that I not release those photographs until the episode has aired.  But I can share these video stills of Picasso Perfect Photography's Jay Evans on the set of "Homeland".  I thought they came out kind of cool!

Andrew and Jenna - Engagement Photography Columbia SC

My business partner Andrew is getting married soon!  I am super excited for them to get married and start their life together.  So we went out and did some engagement photos for them a few weeks ago.  It was so cold out that day, but they endured through it all.  Luckily, I had a hat on with a balaclava around my neck to keep me warm so I wasn't too bad.  I took them down to a local river and made some images of them in and around the area.  Even though it was cold, we had a fun time of playing around and making photographs.  Andrew even threw in some nice modeling poses for me.  They are fantastic!!   Anyway, here are just a few of our favorites!
